Close as Our Breath
Jesus,
We want to breathe You in. You are what makes us feel good. You make us whole. You make beauty from the ashes. You make life from the dust. You breathe life into our lungs. You are the life in us. You are as close as our breath. It's an intimate experience. It's an intimate relationship. Thank You, God, for this closeness, for this oneness, and for this companionship. It's a special community. An important one. It helps us grow and learn. You are our teacher.
It is comforting to know how close You are to us. You already know everything about us. We don't need to hide. We don't need to cover up. You know the very things that make us ashamed of ourselves, that make us feel too broken to be fixed. You still love us. You love us through it all. Thank You so much! But You don't just love us, You also come alongside us on this journey called life and help us grow and stretch and learn. You make us better versions of ourselves. You give us a vision for who You want us to be, and we desire to obey You. Jesus, thank You so much for being as close as our breath. You are not a condemning, faraway God. You walked this earth, to further pursue us, and then set us free. We are alive because of You. Without Your life inside of us, we'd be nothing. For all You've done, we want to give You praise! Thank You, my kind Jesus. Amen.
