Good News, Great Joy
The birth of Jesus was anticipated by many. The coming of a Saviour was expected by many. Jesus' arrival was hoped for by many.
When the angel appeared to the shepherds in Luke chapter 2, the angel said, "Don't be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people." Jesus brought joy; He still brings joy. Jesus is the good news for all people. He is the One that will save all His people. Jesus, the promised One, has come!
We have the opportunity to experience true joy through Jesus because it is not a fleeting feeling, it is not dependent on our circumstances, and it is not based upon our life struggles or triumphs. We can find joy through Jesus who came to provide hope and life. He came to save us from our sins and take our burdens from us. He came to set the captives free.
So we can have joy through His life-giving, loving, humble, and gracious heart. We can have joy through knowing Him and having a relationship with Him. We can have joy through the knowledge of His truth and promises that He is the Light of Life, the Saviour, the Mighty Warrior, the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace.
The joy of the Lord is ours to claim, His invitation is ours to accept, and His love is ours to receive. He came as good news for each of us to bring great joy. What a beautiful gift this Christmas!
