Consider His Sacrifice
Jesus humbled Himself and came into the world in human flesh, as a dependent infant. God sacrificed His own Son - Himself. There is a way of living that goes beyond our human comprehension. There is a way of loving that we can only understand when we get to know God truly and deeply.
It is so easily overlooked but God sacrificed Himself, His Son whom He loves deeply, for us. But are we willing to sacrifice for Him?
Sacrifice is the essence of true and deep love. Sacrificing your own comfort. And sacrificing your own heart.
Jesus came to set us free. We were in bondage, we were in chains, we were lost. Jesus came to pay for all of our sins so that we can live with Him forevermore. These truths are what lay the basis of our faith, yet it is often taken for granted. We shouldn't go a day without thanking and praising the Lord for His sacrifice.
Too much of my life has been wasted disappointing and upsetting Jesus. It isn't possible to be perfect, and perfection isn't the goal, a relationship with Jesus is. Nevertheless, going forward I desire to not forget about His sacrifice. I desire to not forget about the countless times since then that He's been faithful to me, in both the big ways and the small ways. I desire to not forget about the ways in which He has shown mercy even though I'm not worthy.
We will never be worthy - that's why He bought our freedom! He welcomes us even though we don't deserve it. He made the biggest sacrifice for us knowing that we may never, in our time on earth, consider Him or make the smallest sacrifice for Him.
So let us rejoice for Jesus! Let us sing because our Saviour came into our world to save us. Let us praise because He loves us unconditionally. Let us worship because He willingly gave Himself for us! And let us consider Him and acknowledge Him for who He is.
