Worth Waiting For
Sometimes life and the way God works is similar to the process of baking cookies. You start with many different ingredients. You may begin with some sugar in the bowl, the good stuff, the easy stuff, the tasty stuff. Then we get some flour thrown in. This flour might consist of some inconvenient issues that aren't a huge deal. Then we get a little sprinkle of baking soda. A bit of encouragement in the unfamiliar places, a bit of moral support. So far, life seems pretty good, seems pretty smooth, seems pretty manageable.
But then (you all saw this coming...) we get an egg added into the mix. Now things have gotten messy. Now there are difficult circumstances, there is sin, and there is heartache. When we mix things up and stir them together, we find that we adapt to the changes- we get used to the new consistency.
As God adds more and more to our lives, we learn and grow. Through each tiny change, God is stretching us, molding us, and transforming us, similar to rolling out the cookie dough. He uses the challenges and the struggles to work and carry out His greater plan and purpose. He puts His hand on our lives and works miracles. The cookies have to bake and this could be symbolic of a time of waiting on the Lord. And then we see His faithfulness. Then we have the final result of the situation. God took our sin, shame, and messiness, and He transformed it into something beautiful. Into something worth waiting for. That's right, God is worth waiting for. Seeing God's glory is worth waiting for. Seeing God's faithfulness is worth waiting for. Seeing God's beauty, selflessness, and miracles are worth waiting for.
Now, if you saw this whole process in your own life, with a specific circumstance, what would you do? I just encourage you all to look out for God's miracles, wait for them, expect God to show up, and then praise Him for what He's done.
