Gloomy Skies
Sometimes life is frustrating, confusing, and full of dreadful emotions. However, we get to choose how we perceive, handle, and react to these gloomy skies. We can focus on the negative. The rain, the darkness, and the storm. Or we can focus on the positive. The sun hiding behind the clouds, the blessings that come after the storm, and the fruit that the trees will bear after this season of rain. The good is yet to come. The glory of God is yet to be revealed. We can be excited for this. We can have hope because of this.
The gloomy skies don't last. The sun may be hiding as we fall asleep, but it will peek through the clouds in the morning. Jesus doesn't want us to be slaves to our emotions, to our sadness, or to our grief. He wants us to be free, to not dwell on the painful moments but to rejoice in the cheerful ones!
Life is full of ups and downs. It's the journey. God works through both the good and bad times to create a beautiful story. Yes, this life is hard; however, we don't need to focus on the hurt and pain of this world when we can focus on God and what He's done for us.
God has called us to rise! He has called us to stand, because we can stand with the confidence that our Lord surrounds us and will catch us if we start to fall. He will stabilize us if we start to sway. He will renew us if we start to become weary. This is our assured confidence in Jesus, that even though life is hard, there is good yet to come. Jesus didn't come to earth so we can continue to live a life of unfulfilled sadness. He came to save and to set the captives free! Go, walk in this confidence.
