God-given Beauty

God made us beautiful. Beauty is a good thing. However, are we using our beauty for the right purposes? God intended for our beauty to attract others to Him. He wants to radiate off of and shine through us in order to bring glory to His name. It's so important that we are acting in ways that show Jesus, because those who are lost look to us Christians to find out who God is, and if they see that we are gossiping, being fake, and wearing an overload of makeup, they probably won't want anything to do with God. So that leaves us with a haunting but crucial question... Are you revealing the true heart of Jesus by the way you talk, dress, and act?

Don't get me wrong, makeup is a good thing, if it's used in the right ways. There's a huge difference between putting on makeup to attract attention or to seduce than putting on makeup to enhance your natural, God-given beauty. I think that everything we do, even how we do our hair and our makeup, can be a reflection of our love for God. Our self-pampering can be God-honouring!

We should be respecting the fact that we are only temporarily borrowing these bodies for this time on earth but that they aren't ours. We should be seeking to honour God through the way we dress and present ourselves. We can walk with confidence knowing that we are a new creation in God. God is calling us into a life of modesty and beauty.

God made us beautiful. Our beauty is unique and precious. Instead of trying to change it, embrace it. We are the daughters of King Jesus and He holds us in His hand. We look to Him for our identity, value, and beauty. True beauty. The beauty that shines from within. The beauty that laughs and cries but always looks to brighter things. The beauty that is God-fearing, God-honouring, and God-given.
