Shifting Shadows
Our God is, and was, and is to come. He never changes. When everything in life seems to turn dark, sad, and lonely, we feel like we have nothing left! But in reality, we have a thin layer of darkness right in front of our faces preventing us from seeing the light behind it. It's not that the light went away, no, it's just that we can no longer see it!
I love that Jesus is always the same. He is so consistent. He is not like the clouds, constantly moving and changing form. He is not like the shifting shadows, never what we are expecting.
Every good and perfect gift is from God. Sometimes we have to look a little harder to find these gifts, but they are there, because God is there. He doesn't leave us empty-handing or stranded. He will never let us down. Never.
So who can we trust more than God? A God who never changes and is always caring for our needs. Who can we despise more than those who are like shifting shadows. Those who are unpredictable, crazy, and uncontrollable. The shifting shadows are the ones that limit us, that confine us, and that block us from knowing the truth and from seeing the light that is truly there, before us, to set us free. Evil is among us. We must cling to our Saviour and His glowing, radiating, and marvelous light.
