Our Gardener
Our hearts are filled with so many things. Everything we love, everything we don't. It's filled with compassion, self-pity, sympathy, hurt, desires, and dreams. Although we may not notice, we have an active working Gardener in our hearts. One that doesn't sleep, stop or forget.
Our Gardener is constantly pulling weeds. Areas of our hearts that He knows we don't need. Parts of our lives we can't hold on to. Traits about us that we'd be better without.
Our Gardener is always planting. New flowers that we don't yet have or we need more of. He plants so much beauty in our hearts. He likes variety. Colour, design, shape, and size.
However, sometimes the special flowers He plants grow unhealthy, grow with mutations and disease. Not because He is imperfect, wrong or sinful, but because we are.
Our Gardener works so hard to build us up, heal our hurts, and create in us a pure heart. But for His job to really be effective, He needs our cooperation. He is so good to us; He works hard, is patient, and really does want to see us prosper, all because He loves us.
Perhaps next time you feel in touch with your heart, you could go say hello to your Gardener. I think He'd really like that!
